Pre-Primary Uniform Policy
(Nursery to UKG)
At The H.D. Foundation School, we believe that the early years of a child's education should be centred around comfort, ease, and emotional security. For this reason, there is no prescribed uniform for students from Nursery to Upper Kindergarten.
Rationale
- Comfort First: Young children are still in the initial stages of being independent and developing motor skills. Comfortable, easy-to-wear clothing helps them move freely and participate confidently in all the school activities.
- Smooth Transition from Home to School: Allowing children to wear familiar clothes creates a sense of security and belonging, making the transition into school life more relaxed and positive.
- Focus on Learning through Play: Pre-primary education is largely activity-based. Flexible clothing supports play, movement, and hands-on learning without restriction.
- Encouraging Individuality: At this stage, we encourage children to express themselves while gradually adapting to structured routines.
Guidelines for Parents
- Children should come dressed in clean, comfortable, and weather-appropriate clothes.
- Clothing should be easy to manage (elastic waistbands, simple fastenings).
- Footwear should be safe and comfortable (preferably closed shoes or sandals).
- All belongings should be clearly labelled with the child's name.
As children progress to higher classes, they gradually transition into the formal school uniform, helping them develop a sense of discipline, identity, and belonging to the school community.
